Workforce Development

The Workforce Development Committee is dedicated to helping members address workforce shortages by introducing youth to careers in the skilled trades. Key efforts include working with area high schools to establish apprenticeship programs, presenting to middle and high school students about trade career paths, and participating in career fairs aimed at these age groups. The committee also explores additional opportunities to grow the skilled trades workforce.

This committee meets monthly on the third Wednesday at 12:00pm via zoom.

Parade Of Homes

The Parade of Homes Committee is tasked with planning, coordinating, and executing a successful Parade of Homes event. Working within the guidelines set by the CVHBA Board of Directors through the annual budget process, committee members provide valuable input on logistics, activities, and marketing strategies. Additionally, the committee participates in various marketing initiatives to promote the Parade of Homes and actively seeks sponsorships to support the event.

This committee meets monthly from September through the event in June.

Membership

The Membership Committee focuses on recruiting and retaining members, fostering engagement and growth within the association. Responsibilities include organizing outreach activities and addressing member concerns to improve satisfaction. The committee oversees networking events, welcomes new and prospective members, and hosts orientations to build connections. Guided by the strategic plan, they conduct surveys to refine programs, enhance benefits, and find ways to recognize and reward members.

This committee meets monthly on the second Wednesday at 8:00am in person or via zoom.

Human Resources & Grievance

The Human Resource & Grievance Committee fosters a safe and supportive culture at CVHBA for members, the Executive Officer, and staff. This committee advises the Executive Committee on HR matters, oversees the Executive Officer's contract, and offers resources and guidance for effective management. It provides a confidential forum for concerns, reviews grievances, and follows established procedures. Additionally, the committee coordinates mediation requests, ensures trained mediators are available, and assists with any tasks assigned by the President or Executive Committee.

Home Show

The Home Show Committee is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing a successful Home Show. Operating within the budget set by the CVHBA Board, the committee identifies key elements of the event, such as education sessions, garden centers, and exhibitor booths, and organizes sub-committees to develop these areas. Responsibilities also include securing sponsorships, contracting vendors, reviewing facility needs, and recruiting volunteers to ensure smooth operations. Additional duties are developed as needed by the committee to enhance the event’s success.

This committee meets monthly from August through the event in February.

Government Affairs

The Government Affairs Committee leads the association’s efforts in government affairs, advancing public policy goals across local, state, and national levels. They develop a 2-3 year agenda, highlighting key issues for advocacy and collaborating with the Wisconsin Builders Association (WBA) and National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) to address member concerns at broader levels. The committee promotes the CVHBA’s advocacy agenda, provides input on emerging issues, and maintains regular communication with local officials. As needed, they establish sub-committees to address specific issues, ensuring proactive engagement in matters affecting the industry.

This committee meets monthly on the first Wednesday at 7:30am via zoom.

Golf

The Golf Committee organizes the annual Golf Outing, a key networking event aimed at connecting members and generating non-dues revenue for the association. Reporting to the Membership Committee, they handle all aspects of planning, from selecting the venue and arranging food to securing sponsorships and raffle prizes. The committee also oversees event logistics, including organizing activities and games, coordinating the flow of the day, and recruiting volunteers to support the event’s success.

This committee meets monthly from February through the event in July.

Finance

The Finance Committee supports the board in fulfilling its fiscal responsibilities, reviewing and recommending policies on investments and spending to ensure sound financial oversight. Key duties include reviewing and approving the annual budget, overseeing the accuracy of financial reports (including the Form 990), and recommending audits when necessary. The committee manages organizational financial assets, monitors investment performance, and periodically recommends new investment managers. They also assess capital equipment needs, make purchasing recommendations, and conduct board education on finance and investment topics.

This committee meets approximately five times a year.

Education

The Education Committee oversees all educational opportunities for members, including builder continuing education credits and business seminars. The committee selects seminar topics, coordinates with presenters, and organizes event logistics. They also secure sponsorships to support these events and gather member feedback to shape future educational offerings, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of the membership.

This committee meets approximately sevent to eight times a year.

Christmas Party

The Christmas Party Committee organizes the annual Christmas Party, a festive networking event aimed at connecting members and raising funds for the scholarship program. Reporting to the Membership Committee, the team selects the venue, plans event details such as food and entertainment, and secures music. They also solicit sponsorships, raffle prizes, and auction items, depending on the event format. Additionally, the committee handles decorations, markets the event to encourage attendance, and recruits volunteers to ensure the event’s success.

This committee meets monthly from August through the event in December.

Building & Grounds

The Buildings and Grounds Committee ensures that the CVHBA’s facilities and property are well-maintained and that tenant rental agreements are properly managed. This committee annually reviews service contracts to secure cost-effective agreements, preferably utilizing member services, and conducts a facility walk-through with the Executive Officer to identify repair needs for the budget cycle. They oversee the building and grounds budget, review tenant agreements, and set lease amounts. Additionally, the committee manages repair and improvement projects, ensuring permits and regulations are followed, and develops long-term maintenance and repair plans to address future needs efficiently.
